Blocked ears is commonly caused by earwax (cerumen) build up blocking the ear canal.
Other cause includes:
Eustachian Tube Dysfunction is a condition that occurs when the tubes connecting your middle ears to your upper throat becomes blocked.
Ear infection or also known as acute otitis media or externa is a condition where the fluid is trapped in the ear.
Symptoms of Problematic or Impacted ear wax:
Ear pain
Ear pressure
Sensation of 'fullness", feeling 'underwater' or 'plugged'
Dull hearing
Tinnitus
Popping sounds
Itch
Malodorous d ischarge
Treatment for blocked ears varies depending on the cause. Micro suction is the treatment of choice for removal of cerumen build up and antibiotics prescribed by General Practitioners for ear infection.
